Market Collective: 6 Year Anniversary

Added on by Gloria Ho.

I took a couple months off from selling at markets so that I could regroup and recharge. I took the time to paint new things and bulk up my inventory, catch up on administrative/business tasks, and finish commissions and projects.

A few weeks ago, I was a vendor at Market Collective's 6 Year Anniversary event in Calgary's East Village. The three day market was incredible! The beautiful weather, food trucks and live music created such a positive atmosphere and an ideal backdrop to celebrate the anniversary of a wonderful organization. The outdoor venue, located right by the river, made for a perfect space to showcase artwork, clothing, jewelry, accessories, and photographs from a diverse group of vendors. My favourite thing about Market Collective is the sense of community that it brings to local makers and shoppers. I love catching up with my fellow vendors and hearing updates on projects and life events. I also love it when old customers come to say hi and tell me how they've displayed their prints and give me ideas for new paintings.

I feel so grateful to Angel Guerra and Angela Dione, the 2 friends who built this amazing community for artists and makers. Not only are they kind and incredibly approachable, they are hardworking, dedicated and so passionate about local art, music, and culture. Check out an interview HERE that Angel did for I Like it Local.
